I haven't been able to post recently because as of 16th of April I have been back at school. Most people my age would be saying this with a sigh but I, as a nerd, am glad to be back at school!
Anyway, I must tell you about my horrible friday the 13th! I woke up with a sore throat and decided I better not take my injection until after I went to the hospital and got it okayed by my consultant. Anyway, I went to the hospital... thankfully I'm not a coeliac (that would have been all I needed) but my protein is still too low. He checked my throat and told me it was ok to take my injection. But when I was at home Dad went off to play golf so I was on my own so I decided to wait until mam came home from work. I eventually got around to it at about 6pm. But this is where Friday the 13th kicks in... I put the needle in (my stomach) and it would only go half way then I lost my grip on my skin so I had to take it out... except I was taking it out at a different direction I put it in... and let me to tell you... it hurt!!!!
Protein- I have found an amazing recipe that will help my protein shoot through the roof! Add 4 tablespoons of dried skimmed milk into ordinary fresh milk and then add it to your cereal... it's yummy and extremely nutritious! I have to go to the hospital on Wednesday for a blood test and if it's still low then I won't know what to think!!!
School Glorious School- I had 4 days of school this week... but I have to say I'm glad to be back. I had a little crisis though. You see I was teaching myself Leaving Cert Accounting and to be honest it wasn't really working out so I needed something to replace it. So now I'm doing Home Ec... it won't be easy though because it's so late in the school year and I'll have a lot of catching up to do! I've started already though- nerd that I am. Sure most people haven't even started studying for their summer tests (end of May 2007) whereas I've started studying for my Leaving Cert (June 2008).
Maths- Oh my God! On Wednesday I had a Higher Level Maths test on Complex numbers (complex being the key word there) I was convinced I had failed it... I mean I didn't even complete the damn thing. I missed 3 questions out of 9. But I got it back yesterday and I got 63% (which is a C2!) so I was pretty chuffed with myself.
The school quiz team that I'm on... yeah well we were in the Leinster Finals on Thursday (that was the day I didn't go to school- I needed to rest) anyway... we were absolutely hammered. There was some very tough questions and it was unbelievable some of the questions the captain of the other team knew. The final score was 102-82.
Pig's Hearts- Ugh! Ick! Yuck! We had to dissect a pig's heart in Biology on Wednesday and it was just after lunch break. I don't know how I kept my lunch down. It was horrible though, because we cut into the right ventricle and I poked it, trying to see in then this big huge blood clot pops out... oooooooh... it was horrifying!

My Apologies
I must apologise for my absence... after my migraine on Saturday I haven't much felt like using the computer... and the hospital rang me with crappy news. My protein is still too low so they ordered me to get to my GP for further blood tests. Which have left me with a big gammy bruise on my right arm because the nurse SUCKS at taking blood.
In cooking news... I'm on my Easter holidays so I have been experimenting with different recipes this week. Monday, I cooked creamy tomato soup- delicious!!! And my dad liked it too... and he is very fussy about food!
Tuesday, it was homemade pizza. It was delicious... but I put too much sauce on the pizza base and when I took my first bite it got all over my bottom lip and the burnt the hell out of it. I had a big minging blister on my lip for days!
Wednesday, I went to NCI (National College of Ireland) for Open day (more on that later) so I didn't make lunch. Instead we (my dad and I) eat in a cafe... lovely chicken soup... yummy!
Thursday, I made Croque Monsieur... absolutely yummy!!! It's a fried ham and cheese sandwich. I'm sure that it's really fattening... but because I'm trying to gain weight... I don't care!!!
Friday, I made the creamy tomato soup again because Mam and sister were at home and they wanted to try it... but I eat too much and belly was bursting so I had to take Gaviscon (tm... blah blah).
Saturday, I made chicken and ham risotto... it is delicious and it is so easy to make... it's very very tasty!
NCI Open Day- It was great. Dad drove me up (he works from home). I didn't get to stay very long but I managed to catch a talk on Accounting and Financial services. I went in wanting to study Accounting and came out realising I want to study Financial services. No one else showed up for the talk so I got to talk one to one with the Professor and she was really nice.
It's such a cute little college because it's so small and all the professors get to know the students really well. Which is great for me with my condition and all.
I've finished two fantastic books this week. The first one by Sophie Kinsella called "Shopoholic and Baby"... if you haven't read this series go start now... it is brilliant. The second one was by the funniest woman on the planet Marian Keyes "Anybody Out There"- You should read her books too... I never laugh when I read books but I always do when I read hers.
By the way did you see Marian Keyes on Tubridy Tonight? I haven't laughed so hard in a long time... she is hilarious!
I love Golf! I know that seems strange for a teenage girl but I love it. The Masters are brilliant. Tiger will probably end up running away with it... but come on Padraig Harrington! He is in with a chance... only 2 behind the leaders. Hahaha! Annoying Phil Mickelson is playing crap!!! Hardy hahaha! I can't wait to see his face when he has to put the green jacket on the winner... mwa hahaha!

The Trauma Of Migraine
I don’t know whether any of you get migraines… can I just say OUCH? Not long after I made my post on Saturday I was resting in my bedroom, minding my own business, when suddenly my vision goes funny. Sirens start going off in my head because as any of you who do get migraines will know, they are NASTY! So I shouted for my mam and I took paracetmol straight away.
Unfortunately I couldn’t avoid the thumper of a headache… it was horrible! Also, my whole left side went numb including my tongue and my throat… it felt sooo freaky. I also got sick… which was awful when it happened but I felt a hell of a lot better when I did.
Yesterday I made the mistake of eating my dinner too quick… which was stupid I know… but when for the past two years you have a crappy appetite and all of a sudden you can’t get the grub quick enough… it’s hard not to eat fast! Besides it was my favourite dinner stuffed roast chicken with real gravy… Mmmmhmm!
Well today is the beginning of my glorious two weeks off school. I began by trying out a new recipe for tomato soup… which wasn’t a disaster! YEAH! It was actually delicious… very heavy because there was cream in it… but yummy!! I want to try make a home made pizza in the next week or two.
Remember I had a blood test on Friday? Well I got the results today… I was not a happy camper… my protein is still really low! Everything else is perfect though… but it’s puzzling my doctors why my protein is so low when I’m so healthy… So I have to go to my Doctor tomorrow (as well as the Dentist… grrr) and have more blood tests… then I have to go back to the hospital on Friday the 13th!!! AAAHHHH!!!
